Self Accountability

There are many kids who claim they "want it" , that they want to be great. They start the off season ready to get to work. Summer starts with a 100 shots a day, going to the gym, or getting a run in. Soon the Grind becomes harder to get motivated for and you push back the days workout and instead lock into a game of fortnight. Before you know it, you have skipped 2 days, then a week, and a month. Then the rest of the summer has flown by and you get back to school. Now basketball season is upon you. Does this sound familiar?

Plans or goals are so easy to make, but when we want the outcome with out respecting the process, getting that outcome becomes extremely difficult. This alone separates the average from the great.

The ability to check yourself , to set goals, and to commit or follow thru, are some of the most valuable lessons the game has to offer young players. I have found the kids that learn this early achieve their goals more often then those who don't. Set yourself goals. make plans or steps to achieve those goals. Execute your plan and PUT IN THE WORK! Following thru takes an extreme amount of self accountability but with the sweat, soreness, and ability to check yourself when needed...

you will soon be reaching your goals.
